How To Create Powerful Affirmations For Changing Your Emotional State

How To Create Powerful Affirmations For Changing Your Emotional State

Do Affirmations Actually Work?

Affirmations can be used to change your current state and reinforce the feeling state that you are trying to achieve, whether that is feeling safe, hopeful, abundant, or creative. However, the usual way of simply repeating an affirmation is not as effective, as if you are using a process that can help you make this change possible via being believable.

I am sure you have sat in front of the mirror before, trying to tell yourself. I am successful. I am powerful. I am ready to take action – while your thoughts are telling you, yeah right. In order to override that negative disbelief, I have created a process that will enable you to work through that, by utilizing the power of writing, memory, repetition, and gentle self-compassion. Here are the steps:

Practical Steps On How To Create Powerful Affirmations That Work

Start with an affirmation on a subject that you want to work on. Let’s start with feeling more abundant. An example affirmation for that would be: I am abundant. I am prosperous. I have a lot to be grateful for. Money comes easily my way.

Now let’s tie that to an experience from the past and also the present moment:  In order to make this plausible for you to believe in, affirmations must tie to something concrete, that you can already experience, and that you have experienced in the past, but which you just may not usually pay attention to. You could write, for example: I have so much to be thankful for right now. There are so many evidences of abundance surrounding me, and even if sometimes I do not notice them, they are always there. I was able to pay all of my bills this month, maybe not on time, but I did pay for them, and that is wonderful and powerful. In the past, I even made more money than I did now, and I even have more skills now than before, which means that I can do it again. I have many skills that I can depend on that draw abundance to me.

Remind yourself to be compassionate and gentle with yourself: This is an essential step, as you are trying to overcome your inner resistance, which never response well to any force. A gentle and compassionate approach puts your resistance at ease and allows your subconscious to pay attention:  For example, write: I am doing the best that I can with what I have right now, and for that I am grateful. I am thankful that I know how to make the money that I have count, and I embrace all that I have received because of these skills. With more prosperity, I will be able to share more, and experience more, and that is an awesome thing to want to experience. I deserve to want more money and prosperity, and I am allowing myself to feel desires and needs without any guilt. I deserve to feel abundant.

Promise yourself to notice the abundance you already have more: This statement reinforces the new habit and allows you to make a promise you can actually keep and believe at this very moment. For example: I am thankful for all that I already have, and all that I already experience, and I take the time to feel grateful and appreciative on a daily basis.

Repeat a variant of your original affirmation: This action ties everything together. For example: I have a lot to be grateful for, as I am abundant and prosperous. I draw more abundance to myself on a daily basis.

End the session with a general uplifting affirmational statement:  Your general closing statement should be short, and anchor your new belief, but should also be related to the affirmation statement you are trying to create. For example:  I am worthy and deserving.

You have now crafted a completed, and believable, powerful affirmation statement.

Here is the example in it’s completed form:

I am abundant. I am prosperous. I have a lot to be grateful for. Money comes easily my way. I have so much to be thankful for right now. I have many skills that I can depend on that draw abundance to me.I am thankful for all that I already have, and all that I already experience, and I take the time to feel grateful and appreciative on a daily basis.  I have a lot to be grateful for, as I am abundant and prosperous. I draw more abundance to myself on a daily basis. I am worthy and deserving.

Now, read your statement of affirmation once more, slowly, while breathing deeply and staying relaxed. Put your hand over your heart while reading, to create an anchor to better help you recall the affirmation, whenever needed.

Read this affirmation at least 3 times a day over the next few weeks, or until you have deeply felt an improvement in your situation, upon which time, you can then switch to another set of affirmation statements, and tackle another issue.

However, I have noticed that when I begin to work on one subject matter in this way, that other parts of my life improve with it, maybe a little bit more subtly, but noticeably.

Conclusion:

Affirmations are powerful tools that we should not dismiss, however, some simple adjustments when crafting affirmations can make them even more useful and transformational.

  1. Affirmation always sounded cheese to me but I agree it’s important how we talk to ourselves and I’m gonna give them a try!

they are cheesy at times, especially if there are just random statements that we are supposed to make, according to this, or that book, or this and that affirmation card. Not very reliable and transformational is it? However, the going deeper technique that I described here helps a lot and turns it from a weird sentence into something that actually has power and meaning. I am glad that you are considering giving this a try – blessings!
