Inspirational Quote Of The Day
Mindfulness gives us the ability to make an informed choice – even if the choice is to not be mindful. – Jan Chozen Bays, MD
Using Mindfulness To Make A Choice
With awareness comes choice. Mindfulness gives you that awareness so that you can take advantage of your real point of power, which is always, and always will be in the present moment. The decisions you make from the point of awareness can be, like the author of the above quote states a choice to go on like usual or to choose peace, compassion, gratitude, acceptance, or allowing – aligned with whichever path you are wishing to take. But mindfulness is the key to unlocking the opportunity for decision making.
Using Mindfulness To Become Aware
One of the ways I used to be on auto-pilot was when I was eating. I would prefer to watch some exciting shows, and by the time they were over, I realized I ate way too many chips and did not feel good afterward. Being mindful, however, when I am eating enabled me to first of all taste the chips to their fullest potential, and gave me the opportunity to employ self-control, instead of eating them all, I eat a few, until the desire to have them is satisfied.
Mindfulness As Your Point Of Power
This is just one of many examples, how being mindful of your actions, intentions, thoughts, and beliefs can influence what decisions you make at this moment. It is a mighty powerful tool you can use, every moment of every day, without the need of anything, except for the choice of being aware.
