Pride tends to get a bad rap and being overly prideful is absolutely not a good thing. But being proud of our accomplishments is a helpful aid in creating habits that are healthy and stick, without having to rely on willpower alone.
Now we should start by mentioning that accomplishments are not something that we usually think of in this instance. It is not the big stuff, but all of the little stuff that is hard for us to do that is often overlooked, and not taken as seriously as they should. For some these seemingly small wins will be something like keeping the sink consistently clean, for others, it might be the act of not smoking – one day at a time. We often underestimate the power that these small moments have, the chance of a momentum they can hold, and what they represent when we are trying to build a healthy, consistent lifestyle. Whatever you are trying to accomplish and essentially turn into a habit, allow yourself to feel that power of being full of pride.
