This Week’s Positive Finds # 1: A Dash Of Ambiance And Something To Laugh At

Beginning today, Daily Positive Motivational Quotes will have a weekly featured called “This Week’s Positive Finds”, where I intend to share links and info about things that motivate, are adorable, funny or in some other form uplifting from around the web and around the world.

If you have a positive video, news, blog post or a clean meme (non-political, please) that you would like to see featured here, send me a link with a short description, and one link to your website or social media to claudiablanton@live.com with the subject: This Week’s Positive Find Submission”, and I will consider adding your suggestions to the weekly feature. For more submission details, and guest blogging and collaboration opportunities, check out my About Me Page.

Inspirational Video Of The Week:

Ambient videos provide the relaxing background sounds that are available to us, when we work in semi-noisy environments like coffee shops, or libraries, which science has proven to help with concentration and productivity. But, if you are busy like I am with obligations that do not allow a trip outside of the home, or if you work in an office, a video just like the one I am sharing with you today, can be a good replacement. These ambient videos, have also been useful as relaxation and calming tools, that can help during times of anxiety and high stress. Try them out! This winter cabinet scene is currently my favorite!

Funny Video Of The Week:

One of the things I love to do for my daughter (who is in her early 20’s), is to send her videos that make us laugh. Because we both love animals – we share our space with 3 dogs and 1 cat –  cat videos often hit the spot. Watch the video below, and share it with someone who could use a laugh!

Positive Book Of The Week:

I am currently reading a book called The Gratitude Diaries by Janice Kaplan, which is a gentle read, describing the journey of a woman who decided to embark on a year of focusing on gratitude. While this book does not have a self-help book feel, it does contain a lot of tips within her telling of her story, about how you can practice more gratitude in every aspect and area of your life. I usually do not like reading these types of books – I prefer self-help books and non-fiction books that have a straight forward, to the point approach, but I found myself not being able to put this book down. This book would also make a great gift!

Positive People To Follow:

There are so many negative stories to focus on, especially on social media, so I wanted to share with you a few people who bring us uplifting content, and shine a little bit of light into our lives if you follow them. I try to make a point to find and follow at least 1 new person a week on any of the social media platforms that provide primarily positive content. Here are some examples:

  1. Positive Mindset Daily – positive quotes via twitter
  2. Everyday Stoic – short bits of stoicism in tweet-form
  3. Cole and Marmalade – cute adventures of two cats and their friends, brought to you on YouTube by their humans

Give them some love, and show your appreciation by following and subscribing to them! And tell them, that I sent you!

Question:

I hope you enjoy this new feature! Which one was your favorite?

Blessings!

Claudia

  1. Hi Claudia, I really like your site and all the positivity you are always sending out to us. Love that video you provided, the HD winter Christmas scene, it’s great and I shared it with a few of my family members. I’m sure they will get a relaxing time out of it like I did. I just love this time of year and things like this make me feel happy. Thanks again.

Thank you for stopping by! I have been itching to put out the decorations, but we are going to wait until Thanksgiving to do so – however, it is hard to wait, lol

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

  2. Hi Claudia, thanks for sharing the types of things that get us and keep us grounded. That snowfall video is so beautiful and calming. I could look at it for a very long time. My favourite though is the cat video., These cats behave so much like people. I just got a cat in my home and I am trying to understand her personality, her like and dislikes. Maybe one day i will also do some video taping of the little things that she does which are interesting. Thanks for sharing.

If you do make that video, make sure that you share it with us here – I am sure that you saw, that I mentioned being open for submissions, so don’t shy away for sending me videos!

Sadly, one of my cats passed away recently, so I currently only have one cat and three dogs – maybe one day we will add another one to our family.

      Blessings to you!

  3. Hi Claudia,

Thank you so much for sharing these, it is a great way to lift anybody’s spirits. Although the inspirational video was definitely nice, I found the cat video hilarious! I have 2 cats and it was a perfect description of how cats are! I may need to pick up The Gratitude Diaries, sounds like a good read.

Thank you again, hope you have a great day!

It is absolutely a great read, and I will write a more detailed review on my book blog as soon as I have a chance, now that I finished it. You can keep an eye out for the review here Within The Pages Of A Book.com

      Blessings!

  4. This is really a nice idea, many people are there with talents and gifts take for instance a good motivational speaker or writer, but most of them hardly finds a platform to showcase these skills and talents. All the videos in this article are really interesting especially the funny video, I laughed a lot, thanks for that. I’ll bookmark this website, it’ll be very useful.

  5. This is a very good post that I really like because you have mentioned here the different positive things to do for this week. I really can’t believe that I have not been following this all this while. I think that this is something that I should really give a try right from now. I like this post a lot. I like the funny video and I feel like I should read that inspirational book as well.

  6. Hello Claudia!

The video with the snowing outside and the burning cheminée sounds indeed relaxing, and with its long duration it would have a certain effect on people listening it for a longer time! Winter and Christmas are coming.

Cats’ intelligence cannot be doubted, that’s for sure. And my mother loves cats very much, too. One time she was having 12 cats and a female dog in her house :). As for things cats don’t like, I was told that many, many years ago, one of my paternal grandfather’s brothers made a visit to my grandparents, they also had a cat and he insulted this cat when he came in; later on, the cat took revenge on that by harshly scratching him.

You are doing a good job by stimulating other people to be more positive.

    Best regards, Peter

oh, yes, cats are surely intelligent! I can see how they would seek revenge whenever they see fit – one of my dogs has been on the receiving end of this, after having chased the cat through the house. The next time we came home from a walk, he was waiting at the door and smacked my dog, and then ran off, while the dog was on the leash, and could not do anything about it.

Glad that you enjoyed this post, Peter

      Many blessings!

  7. I laughed out loud warching the cat video!! This really made my day. I’ve had such a rough couple days. So that was much needed to let go of the stress and read your article and view the video. I love cats and that was so funny, especially the one that looks at the camera while she is working out!! Thank you for sharing!!

  8. Hello Claudia, having a cause to smile can be really relieving especially when such amusements come when you are relaxed and enjoying the scenario. I love to watch kits that are funny and when I’m reply stressed I tend to watch some cartoons too, but the coolest of all these things that I tend to enjoy the most is reading a book. Something to laugh at would save you from so much stress.

    1. Author

Indeed it would – yes, reading is also one of my favorite stress relievers. Many blessings!

  9. I love that of the funny video of the week which helps to make someone smile and laugh and you know when you are happy and you are laughing your whole body will be refreshed and when you are refreshed anxiety and other associated body pains will be gone so it is really ideal to watch often and on with your loved ones.
